My journey of being a cycling enthusiast begins from my childhood . In my childhood, I was so passionate in modifying my tricycles, and that enthusiasm grew up with me to this level where I started my own company.The turning point to my dream was from the college time in 2015 when I initiated a cycling promotional platform named CET CYCLING CLUB . CET stands for ‘College of Engineering Trivandrum’ from where I have graduated my bachelors degree . Through this student community Our team tried to organize many awareness programs in rural society. National and international media joined my journey to spread this awareness over there, later the concept has taken over different colleges, and then I formed a cycling network in my state Kerala to promote cycling.
The alarming count of vehicles operated by fossil fuels in Kerala is seriously demanding cycles to be a sustainable source of transportation . We promoted cycling with other communities having the same intention and created teams in every district. I enjoyed the gatherings of youngsters with cycles for various purposes, one of them was pedalling to raise awareness for river conservation ( for the conservation of Thettiar rivulet in Trivandrum ,Kerala) , There were many campaigns and projects across Kerala that I have conducted with my cycling community. Autism awareness campaigns in rural areas of Kerala, pedal to peak recreational rides for promoting sustainable mobility inside the green sanctuaries to reduce carbon footprint, green protocol campaign in association with Harithakeralam mission under Govt. of Kerala, palliative care community support program in association with Pallium India Organisation , Vellayani lake cleaning campaign are some notable projects I have conducted with the support of my colleagues. To honor the diligent effort that I had put in my district Malappuram to promote cycling among youth, An Amsterdam-based organization named BYCS selected me as The bicycle mayor of Malappuram to promote cycling over my city. The motto of BYCS is “50 by 30” , that is within 2030 the average bicycle transportation over the city to increase up to 50 percent. During my B Tech graduation period, I volunteered and conducted the activities under the National Service Scheme. And set my mind to inquisitively look for what our community demands. I usually interact with volunteers and organizing authorities about the matters that affect society. The end of such an interaction resulted in the birth of a team named ENCRESE ( Engineer’s Crew for Society and Environment ). As a team, we planned and executed our technical knowledge for the well-being of our community. Inspired by the prime objective of the NSS to identify and address the problems of the community, we stumbled upon the idea of focusing our skills towards finding practical solutions for issues like manual scavenging, development of devices supporting Activity of Daily Living (ADL) for paralyzed people. As the very first challenge, ENCRESE has taken up the problem of manual scavenging, a practice that persisted in several parts of the country, despite being prohibited. The collective has designed a ‘Manhole Sludge Removal System’ for removing sewer sediments. We stood with manhole workers and created a cheap manually usable machine for them to clean the manhole without digging into it so that the risk factor reduced to zero and they were so happy that bullying by society will no longer exist.Our endeavor fetched me great accolades and our team bagged an appreciation from the honorable Governor of Kerala, Justice P Sathasivam.Along with this, our team created a crew De care ( design for care ) customized and created some differently-abled friendly equipment for some palliative patients under pallium India a Trivandrum-based palliative care unit chaired by padma shri Dr .M.R Rajagopal the father of Indian palliative care and they were happy and satisfied for our products.
Beyond the green initiatives, Every round table discussion with my friends was better concluded with new ideas, decisions, programs, awarenesses.Such discussions and innovative talks have led me to set a new pace in my ideas and approach towards community development and capacity building. I thought of creating and modifying bikes at an affordable price so that everyone can easily access bikes to make it an essential part of their life.I always wish to engage the cycling community which stood as a companion of my thoughts and activities. I am planning to promote E-Cycles in every district in Kerala, especially Malappuram, Wayanad, Idukki etc in which we do not have much plain terrains as in Alleppey, Ernakulam regions, still there are many well-wishers to promote cycling.In this Era of increased fossil fuel demand, people changed their minds to satisfy with electrical vehicles. I also took an initiative through an effective campaign where I expect a rise in the use of electric cycles so that people can climb the elevated areas with battery power and pedal in flat terrain.I am interested to provide basic training among the rural community as part of a cycling literacy and cycle maintenance campaign with my colleagues in the district. Being a sustainable environment enthusiast I have some onus of spreading information to the community perfectly in association with my colleagues and authority.
During college time when I was in the peak of active cycling and cycling promotional activities, I created and then took a patent on a design of dual steering bike which can be used as a fun tool to get public attention for cycling promotional activities or it can also use as a brain exercising tool, it can be used as a normal bicycle as well as backward brain cycle, the mechanism of backward brain bicycle is that when we turn it to right, the front wheel will turn left n vice versa. Later I challenged the public that if someone could ride this cycle at least 10 meters they could grab 1000 rupees from me .Yet no one could beat the beast. I also provided training for the backward brain cycle to people who have shown interest in it. Finally, here my company cyclartic promotes cycling and green initiatives in an entirely different way. I wish I could bring cycling to the community as a part of their culture. For that, I can create affordable high-quality bicycles along with customized variants of cycles, adaptive bikes(customised for differently-abled), advertising bikes, and all. Also, we conduct basic bicycle workshops and bicycle learning workshops for school kids. We will make cycling clubs regionally and school-wise and provide them perfect guidance.
